Find a thiftstore chandelier, repaing and add crystals.
Buy a photography, botanical, celebrity, or even comic books, take a razor blade, and cut it up. Put into inexpensive frames and group together on a large wall.
Use wooden clipboards to display important papers or reminders. Hang in a vertical or horizontal fashion.
Add wall brackets or candle sconces to add width to mirrors and pictures. They easily elongate a focal wall.
Use twin beds in a guest room with a nightstand between to add not only interest but varied room dimension.
Add a long bench or chest at the end of your bed which provides not only storage but finishes the look of a room.
Rearrange your living room. Instead of one big seating area, break it up into smaller, cozier seating areas.
Instead of buying just one shower curtain or ready made drapery panel, buy two. You will love the fullness and give the area the look of expensive custom made treatements.
Frame old record albums and use as wall decor in basements or children's rooms.
Paint the small edges (or piping) on your bookshelves to add contrast. The same effect can be achieved by painting or wallpapering the background.
Take inexpensive nailheads to ottomans, chairs, and cornices to add a more finished look.
